About the name Haken, Richard Henshall says it's pronunced as is "bacon", so it's not the german word. He also says: "There’s no meaning, really. It came from kind of alcohol-fueled gatherings between me and my friend and we thought it’d be a nice name purely from the sound of it. There’s no deep meaning behind it."
In short, Affinity is a "robot" story, humanity is threatened by a lethal virus and robots are finding a way to cure it. "The Architect" is about a robot talking to his creator. Robots want to be closer with humans, but they lack the most important human feature - emotions. They want to become one with humans, "tied forever" as one entity composed of all human and robotic minds. There is a lot more to the story and I'm not certain of every single thing, but that's the most probable meaning.
Yeah, the sharper, mathier vibe to most of the disc definitely seems to have taken influence from Leprous. Not a bad thing at all. Those bands have a lot they can teach each other, and then they'll be utterly unstoppable.
Theres only one song that's a little bit like Leprous, but say that the whole album is heavily based on Leprous? Wtf... It's a lot closer to Aquarius, then everything Leprous has ever done. (I love Leprous btw).
