Francis Jean Marcel Poulenc (* 7. Januar 1899 in Paris, † 30. Januar 1963 ebd.) war ein französischer Pianist und Komponist.

Poulenc wurde in Paris geboren. Seine Mutter brachte ihm das Klavierspielen bei, Musik war fester Bestandteil des Familienlebens. 1918, noch während er den Militärdienst absolvierte, komponierte er drei Miniaturen.

  • His two piano concertos are absolutely beautiful, they make me laugh, they make me weep, and they make me think - not to mention the surprising moments of nobleness and even majesty, such as the brass in the Allegretto of 'in C♯ minor'. I knew his voice to be to my liking even before these two, but they have now solidifed and remarkably strengthened this conception. I'll definitely be getting to know him better.
