„The K“, as the man likes to call himself, is undoubtedly one of Brazils most talented contemporary musicians. From the early Nineties on, EDU K has been the singer and front man of seminal Brazilian punk band DE FALLA (who named themselves after the classical Spanish composer). Releasing more than seven albums, and varying their musical style from heavy metal to punk rock and funk, DE FALLA soon became a legendary name in Brasil, known for musical innovations and energetic live shows. In between, EDU released one solo albums and produced various bands like the mangue beat kings Chico Science & Nação Zumbi, Mundo Livre S.A. and Otto, as well as the rap groups Câmbio Negro and Pavilhão Nove. Recently he produced the Brasilian pop rock sensation Detonautas Roque Clube.

With „Popozuda Rock n´Roll“, EDU K has quite likely written one of the best pop songs of recent years. Originally released in 2000 on the album „Miami Rock 2000“, „Popozuda Rock n´Roll“ was a salute from the punks to Rio de Janeiro´s baile funk movement. Almost instantly, it became a big hit in Brasil. Even amongst Rio´s funkeiros, the heavy metal rap song became a success and was played in the baile parties all across town ever since. In 2004, „Popozuda Rock n´Roll“ was released on the seminal compilation „Rio Baile Funk Favela Booty Beats“ (Essay Recordings). From there, it was licensed for a Coca Cola advert campaign in Germany, landed on the famous mix CD by Belgium´s A-List-Djs The Glimmers, and has become a steady burner on Europes freestyle dancefloors. In October 2005, Man Recordings rereleased „Popozuda Rock n´Roll“, alongside remixes by Diplo, DJ Sandrinho and EDU K himself, in which he presented the first ever baile funk-reggaeton mash up released on wax.

Following „Popozuda“, Man Recordings released EDU K´s second single „Sex-O-Matic“, to international critical acclaim. A breathtaking, booty shaking, electronic punk funk anthem featuring one of the hottest female Mcs of Rio, Deize Tigrona, the single includes remixes by Solid Groove from London which was played by DJs like Gilles Peterson (included in his „Gilles Peterson Back In Brazil“ Compilation), Ivan Smagghe, Tiefschwarz, Kruder, Dorfmeister and many other DJs. Last but not least, EDU K released the „Hot Mama“ single, with remixes by Sinden of Dubsided Records London, as well as baile funk upcoming stars Bonde Do Role.

EDU´s debut solo album „Frenétiko“ was released late April 2006 with enthusiastic feedback.
For the album Edu melanged baile funk, reggaeton, electro and punk rock into a mix that is breathtakingly hot and sexy yet kicking some major booty!

In summer 2006 Edu did a first European tour that took him to London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Warsaw. A second European tour in autumn 2006 led
to shows in Tel Aviv, Haifa, London, Berlin, Paris and the Transmusicales Festival. In November 2006 Edu K toured Canada and the USA and performed in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston, New York, Baltimore and Philadelphia. On all tours he was accompanied by his DJ Daniel Haaksman.

EDU K will go on a mini European tour in April 2007 inlcuding dates in Berlin, Kopenhagen and Amsterdam followed by an extensive summer tour which will also lead him to legendary Roskilde festival.

Watch out for a new single by EDU K in summer 2007!
