  • Prediction

    14. Mai. 2007, 4:07 von FrozenInside

So, I predict that this weeks' most played artist (on my weekly chart, of course) will be Ciara.

I was able to get a copy of her album, The Evolution, a few months ago, skimmed through the tracks, didn't pay much attention to them. At the time I wasn't into a Ciara (RnB/pop) mood. Ya know? But, for the last month, I have been. I remember channel surfing last week when I saw a video on MTV and said to myself: "I don't remember this Aaliyahvideo". Turns out, it was Ciara's latest single, Like a Boy.

The resemblance was a bit scary. But, my curiosity aroused I went to grab my ipod and gave the album a second shot. This time around, I got into it.

So, it seems that I've been wanting to play nothing but Ciara for the past few days. Stuff from her debut album and from her new album. Today alone I've played her at least 20 times between my ipod and itunes on my pc...and on my shuffle at the gym...and on my cd player in my car. Thats alot of Ciara.

  • The top 10 moments from Girl Talk's "Night Ripper"

    19. Jan. 2007, 22:18 von evilsoybean

Night Ripper is amazing. One of the best albums of 2006. More than just mashups, it's a brilliantly constructed collage. And you can dance to it. Best moments, with justification coming later.

    10. Stars + Galang (from Summer Smoke)
The formula of awesome + awesome = more awesome is pretty infallable. Here, for these few seconds M.I.A. gets the rock edge that I feel was always missing.

    9. Everybody, Everybody + face down, ass up (from Give and Go)
Somehow, the cheesy synth of "Everybody, Everybody" makes 2 Live Crew's juvenile chants of "Face down, ass up, that's the way we like to fuck" sound oddly anthemic. Like they could be chanted by protestors, or perhaps leaders of a rebellion.

    8. Kryptonite+ (Best of My Love / Daft Punk Is Playing at My House / Cannonball / My Cherie Amour / Valerie) (from Bounce That)
Gillis rides this one "Kryptonite" sample through so many backing tracks. It really shows the flexibility of a vocal sample. …
