Artist ban & flag broken track

  • Artist ban & flag broken track

I'd like to request two features:

    * The ability to ban artists, not just songs.

    * Flagging a song as having technical (encoding) problems so they could be re-digitalized. Maybe this feature should be restricted only to subscribers so it could be easily disabled for troublemakers. If a song collects a certain amount of flags then someone from the Last.fm team should check it. It would also be helpful if we could add a short comment explaining the problem.

    +1 on banning artists

Tired of Marilyn Manson and Combichrist popping up when I keep banning their tracks.

    +1 on banning artists

Elsewhere, the reason's given that it would be unfair to artists to ban them before you've given them a chance... And I can see a sort of logic there.

    BUT

There are quite a few bands I've listened to on the radio and elsewhere that I KNOW I hate. And sometimes they're pretty related to bands I like, so they come up a lot. Having to wait until they get played enough on the official last.fm website player so I can ban some magic unknown number of tracks to hopefully get the artist banned... is just plain stupid and very unfriendly to the user... especially since most of my using last.fm is with apps that don't even support a ban button at all.

Maybe a button when a track plays is too easy... but if I go out of my way to go to a bands last.fm page specifically to stop hearing them, I should be able to. Even if it's just being able to mark tracks as banned without having to hear them played - that would be an improvement!

    banning artists

Maybe put a limit of one bannable artist per week/month?
Or make it a subscriber feature?
