    "Anything goes" radio?

    Hi!

I have this wish, don't know if anyone else has already talked about it here. Is there a way to play an "anything goes" station, where last.fm plays tracks totally at random from all is database? Like an "all tags" radio perhaps?

And exciting way to discover music you otherwise would never hear of, I think :).

  • There's no official radio that would play anything in the Last.fm catalogues, but still there are some possibilities.

You could use the radio of a large non-genre specific group, eg I Still Buy CDs
or use a large non-genre specific tag, like (though this one is probably biased too)

But your best bet would probably be http://www.combofm.de/ where you can create radio stations with several tags or artists (or groups, etc) and combine them with "or"... in the end that should get you very random results :)

Playing a large group radio doesn't really work. Last.fm has some stupid algorithm that always chooses most popular tracks. Same goes for tag radios. You are likely to hear boring mainstream music by typing, for example, indie.

So... still don't know how to do that. Maybe there is a way to get a random artist page? Like tools which give you a random youtube video :).

    +1

Maybe find two or three users from groups like these
    http://www.last.fm/community/groups/search?q=eclectic
    and combine them :

You have a longer attention span than some of us & listen to albums the way the artists probably intended :)
But I certainly prefer/need my music jumbled up.

Shuffling I get, it is the potential to get complete shite that you won't like from an all inclusive radio, when you could make a very large radio of things you would like.

But yeah, I mostly listen locally.
