    We’ve had reports from the community that a few of you are seeing spam from gambling sites. We want to make one thing very clear: We never give or sell your address to third parties without your explicit consent for a specific purpose.
    We are investigating this matter urgently, running a security audit and looking at alternative ways the spamming of users might have occurred.
    We take this abuse of our community very seriously and we appreciate your understanding and support as we work out what’s going on and put things right again.
    Can you please also write directly to our customer support team about this matter? (category: abuse)
    If you still have it, please include the complete spam email (with headers) with your message. We will investigate this matter immediately.

    I also have experienced this recently. My profile settings ( ) are set to:

    YES = Social notifications
    NO = Our occasional digest email
    NO = Events and new releases
    YES = Announcements from
    ... YES = Information about your account
    ... NO = Free stuff, promotions
    NO = Promotions and announcements
    NO = Never contact me by email

    Regrettably I didn't get the headers from my email account, as I have disabled POP3/IMAP and use only web mail, and copypasting the contents of twelve combo boxes was considered too unwieldy.

    As you have locked the main thread concerning this issue, I would appreciate regular (e.g. weekly) feedback on this spam issue, as it is now not possible to track the progress.

    Yes, these threads are being closed because they're being referred to the support team directly. As this pertains to your personal details, specifically email, we can't resolve this issue with you on a public forum. This is standard policy, and also what we do whenever users post about subscription payment problems, for instance.

    If you're affected by this issue, please contact our support team directly (, and if possible send us a copy of the spam so we can investigate. We will get back to you on Monday.

    Until our investigation is complete, unfortunately I can't add anything further to what has already been quoted above. We treat our users' personal data with the utmost respect and are urgently investigating this problem.
