About this album

Helter Skelter Records 12 tracks (71:45)
Be Here Now is the third studio album by English rock band Oasis. Released in August 1997 the album was highly anticipated by both music critics and fans as a result of the band’s previous worldwide successes with their 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe and its 1995 follow up (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?. The album’s pre-release build up led to considerable hype within both the music and mainstream press. At that point, Oasis were at the height of their fame, and Be Here Now became the United Kingdom’s fastest selling album to date, selling over 420,000 units on the first day of release, and over one million within two weeks. As of 2008, the album has sold eight million copies worldwide.
Oasis’ management company Ignition were aware of the dangers of overexposure, and before its release sought to control the media’s access to the album. Ignition’s campaign included limiting pre-release radio airplay, and requesting that journalists sign gag agreements. These tactics resulted in the alienation of members of both the music and mainstream media, as well as many industry personnel connected with the band. Ignition’s attempts to limit pre-release access served to fuel large scale speculation and publicity within the British music scene.
The music magazine “Q” said that “Be Here Now” sounds like “Cocaine set to music”

I'm not gonna lie, this is the only Oasis record I have trouble listening to all the way through. It has some pretty boss tunes on it, like It's Getting Better Man, All Around the World, Don't Go Away, and Stand By Me. Unfortunately, it has some of the band's weakest tracks on it as well. Magic Pie doesn't do much for me, My Big Mouth is pretty bad, and Fade In-Out is among their worst songs (I don't care if Johnny Depp played slide guitar on the track; I hated it since I first heard it). It's an okay album, but their worst by far. Even Noel wasn't impressed.

I don't see why so many don't like this album? For me, it's bloody brilliant. I like the heavy sound from Noel's leadguitar, the lyrics, Liam's voice and the modern sound of Rock 'n' Roll. [4]

Underrated album to be honest, this was the first oasis album I bought and loved it, not their best but good tunes.

Be Here Now is my favorite album. Don't Go Away and Stand By Me is a little bit of cliche but are two beautiful songs. Personally,I think The Girl In The Dirty shirt is an amazing one as well, one of my fav.

People generally hate this. I don't see why. There are some really good songs on this album, and possibly the best Oasis song in All Around The World
